Gangtok

Nathu La Pass

Lachung / Yumthang Valley / Zero Point

Lachung is a tourist destination in the northern part of Sikkim. Along with Yumthang, this place has gained popularity among tourists. Now, they have started including the  Zero point in their travel plan as well.

The three places have beautiful blooms, with Yumthang known as the valley of flowers.  Lachung is a small hilly hamlet, a peaceful place that attracts many tourists every year.  Adjacent to Lachung is the Shingba Rhodenderon Sanctuary, home of beautiful Rhododendrons.

Before reaching the Yumthang valley, you will come across a hot spring that has amazing remedial values. It is suggested to take a dip when you go there.  Just a few kilometers away there is a Shiva temple. 

The route from Yumthang valley to zero points is quite bumpy but filled with the sweet fragrance of Azalea flowers. The Zero point is close to the border between India and China and the place is snow-covered most of the year.

Lachen, Chopta valley, Gurudongmar Lake

Lachen is 120 kilometers away from Gangtok and on your way you can check out small villages that you will come across. With its unspoiled beauty, Lachen is quite appealing. There is a Gompa in it where the yak race is organized in the summers.

 Gurudongmar Lake is considered as a holy water body by both the Buddhists and Hindus. The road from Lachen to this lake steep and rocky and it takes around 4 hours to reach there.  Once you reach there you can witness the delightful snowy mountains. Located there is the Padmasambhava temple, an auspicious place where people visit.

While coming from Gurudongmar to Lachen, you can visit the Chopta valley. This is home to many wildflowers during spring and autumn and snowy during the winter.

Namchi

Located in the southern part of Sikkim, this is one of the most visited tourist spots. With its beautiful ambiance and natural assets, this place is a popular tourist attraction.

The principal tourist spots are Siddheswara Dhaam, Ralang Monastery, Namchi Monastery, and Tendong Hill. This happens to be one of the best places for shopping.

The popular Temi Tea Garden is adjacent to Namchi and usually, tourists include this place in their travel plan. If you happen to visit during February, you can witness the annual floral show.
